The only remaining piece Excorio’s script is the second draft’s cover page, torn from the complete text. Nicolodi had a tumultuous relationship with screenwriter Gordon Luna, reportedly stemming from a disagreement about the film’s ending. After the production dissolved in early August, Nicolodi accused Luna of going to extreme measures to sabotage the film, which Luna denied. In September of 1981, Luna tragically fell down a flight of stairs and broke his neck.
Interestingly, the accident happened less than a mile from Maenad Studios where Excorio was
filmed. Luna’s wife took legal action against Nicolodi due to their longstanding hostility, but
no evidence against him was found.
